Webble. Designed and manufactured by BriteObjects.

Not your typical interior design or architecture product on display at NeoCon, the Webble by BriteObjects redefines your creative flow. A footrest by day but skateboard at heart, it understands the need to warp the workplace into an imaginary playground.

Modeled after “old-school” skateboards, the Webble swoops back and forth, up and down. All the while keeping your precious finger bones safe from your wildest Tony Hawk dreams, its 19.5” x 11.2” frame pleasantly perches underneath any desk. And at the end of the day, playing Webble footsie also rakes in positive health benefits. “Some of the perceptual and physiological problems in the lower legs and feet during prolonged sedentary work may rather easily be reduced by a modest increase of the leg activity comprising a natural part of the sitter’s work” (Winkel & Jorgensen, Ergonomics, March 1986).

Besides its scientific merit, it looks good. Real good. The Webble’s comes in a black mesh membrane resembling a slick turtle shell. It weighs in at 5 lbs and rests on four smooth-gliding, nylon casters. Priced at $139.95, it is available to ship June 30, 2008.

Give your (lower) body a daily, decaffeinated morning buzz with a ride on the Webble!

Sophie Rivers is simple yet spontaneous. She navigates through foggy city blocks to the beat of old school hip hop, jazz, and Dylan. When decidedly not anti-social, however, trivia and travel consume her. But in the written world of architecture and design at a major publication, she has latched onto an innate clairvoyance using her background in cultural and environmental studies.
