SFxF 60:40. Designed by Rangemaster.

Here I thought “split-level” referred only to homes—and among the least attractive ones at that. But this particular jargon has made a horizontal transfer of sorts to a very vertically-oriented product: Rangemaster’s FxF 60:40 features, a “sleek split-level layout with impressive capacity… perfect for those who are pushed for space, but won’t compromise on style.” The long and lean fridge-freezer is a veritable cornucopia of functionality.

Let’s start with storage. Rangemaster prides themselves on the flexibility of their appliances, and the FxF is a case in point. in-door shelving, bottle racks, adjustable glass shelves, humidity-controlled crisper shelves, and a dedicated dairy niche conspire to use all of FxF’s 11.8 cubic foot capacity. Then there’s pin-point control over cooling. “Super Cool” and “Super Freeze” options (which make the FxF sound like it could be a super hero played by Sam Jackson) cool foods faster and with greater precision, enabling you to maintain recently-procured foods at their optimum temperature. The unit also boasts frost-free technology, an internal electric control panel, and a door-ajar alarm so you never have to worry about accidentally using your fridge as an AC unit—an all-too-common ecological faux pas. And speaking of the environment, FxF is A+ rated for energy efficiency (provided you don’t disable the alarm).

In regards to looks, FxF is one tall drink of water. The piece stands in at 188 x 60 cm (about 6’ 2” x 2’). At these dimensions, it may not give Yao Ming any trouble, but it will probably demand an occasional step ladder of lesser mortals. The tall and thin look is très chic to be sure—very European and a very smart use of space. Colors available include stainless, black, and cream, giving you options a plenty to match with your Rangemaster cooktop.

Guest answered: Fagor makes abeauty at 80\"H (standard door height)--tall and thin counterdepth is a joy to work with!

Guest answered: Could even be taller -- closer to 7\'-0\"! What\'s the depth? American refrigerators are generally so clunky.

Guest answered: Too much freezer!

Guest answered: Tall and thin is the way to go. Why all refridges aren\'t taller is beyond me.

If you like the vertically orientated product, you should also consider the Leibherr SBS series of free-standing refrigerators/freezers. Each has a footprint of 24” x 24” and they are 6’-8” tall, with an elegant curved stainless steel door. One unit (freezer below, refrigerator above will function well in a condo or apt. Two, hence the side-by-side designation, are shipped with hardware to connect them within 3/8” of one another - or, they can stand independently remote from one another. This German product is truly an elegant and flexible appliance with all the high-end features of the Rangemaster reviewed. In fact, I think it is the original ‘Tower’ unit that these others are mimicking.

I have theLeibherr and I love it. It is elegant and everyone who see it comments on it immediately. My kitchen is small and the design makes it look bigger. Its in line with the counter top. Its holds more than you think

Do you know the material in each color? when material is in black or cream color, we are talking about stainless steel materials too? Thank you!

Summit has a new line of counter depth 24” wide & tall fridges that are reasonably priced and look good, too. Their refrigerator to freezer ratio is much better than these, being closer to 2/3 fridge, 1/3 freezer.
