If you were looking for some Southern hospitality at NeoCon09, then we hope you had a chance visit R. Brownlee Currey of Currey & Company, the lighting and accent furniture firm based in Atlanta. Besides their gentlemanly flair, the company offers some spectacular chandeliers, including the new Tartufo and Simplicity.

The round Tartufo interprets the circle by paring it down to a simple globe. Constructed of hammered metal, the Tartufo Chandelier “forms an orb” that uses a maximum amount of negative space. Its antique silver leaf finish and four candle holders give it a romantic air without sacrificing simplicity. A modest 20 inches round by 22 inches high, Tartufo is neither too big nor too small. Another product worth mentioning is the Simplicity Chandelier, made from Gmelina, a fast-growing wood from the Far East. I was also taken with Currey & Company’s unorthodox use of cement for decorative garden furniture. Their Faux Bois line makes of cement a woodland wonder. While it’s a bit heavy, the cement line will last, even though Mr. Currey admits its weakness. His Georgia Tech engineers advised him of the two types of cement: the type that is cracked and the type that will crack—but that’s part of its charm.
