The several-fold secret to its high performance is its plywood and steel construction. A bit of pressure folds the seat down via a series of trapezoidal strands of wood-these articulate one over the next to achieve seamless movement without the need for a traditional hinge system.

It maintains rigidity via an integrated layer of thin, strong sheet-style steel.
