This Salone del Mobile, Moooi will present A Life Extraordinary, which includes new products in many categories. In seating, Moooi will unveil Canal Chair, designed by Stockholm-based Italian designer Luca Nichetto.

Inspired by a historical ship that once dominated the Mediterranean, Canal Chair seeks to evoke a spirit of adventure—“exchanging luxurious merchandise and chasing dreams of glory,” for example.

Curvy in just the right way, Canal Chair envelopes the user in a comfortable, shielded space. It may even seem like sitting in a captain’s chair, so settle in and take a voyage (even if it’s imaginary).

Available with four-legged steel, swivel oak, and swivel steel bases, Canal Chair fits into varied spaces. Upholstered in a striped pattern with oak legs, Canal Chair reminds me of a Venetian gondola. In solid red with metal legs, it becomes a millennial interpretation of Scandinavian mid-century style.

And for the maximalist, Canal Chair comes in a special edition: Stemma Nichetto features a maritime design with a swivel mahogany base.
