Creatures Great and Small

The latest iteration of storage from Furf Design Studio, Tronco appeals to those who need more space for their stuff, yet eschew the bulkier traditional forms of storage. So away with wood cabinets, shelves stacked on cement blocks, overflowing closets.

The charms of Tronco surpass its svelte silhouette. Designed for eclectic manufacturer Qeeboo, Tronco synthesizes Brazillian and Italian influences, “bridging the worlds of plastic and wood with a functional yet poetic trunk.” Made of polyethylene with a finish that mimics wood, Tronco is a tree trunk to call your own: it comes in stackable units replete with peepholes and the stubs of branches.

Doors open to accommodate the items of your imagination—or more pragmatically, what your family actually needs. Branch stubs host articles to grab and run: hats, scarves, gloves, a rain jacket, even an umbrella. And Tronco’s flat surface offers a handy spot for books and mail.

Tree trunks shelter squirrels, birds, bugs, cats. Tronco can be your child’s own tree—with woody niches for special stuffed animals or other treasures. And just as trees change their complexion throughout the year, Tronco sports a dual personality: it can be an imaginitve hub for kids or a clever solution for tidying up and organizing. Unlike a tree trunk, Tronco is flexible and mobile: it’s lightweight and easy to move, even easier with optional wheels.
