Dedas for Introspective Relaxation
Those of us old enough to remember that Frankie said “Relax,” will appreciate sinking back into the sheltering geometry of Dedas, a cerebral three-seater sofa by Annabella Hevesi for Line and Round.

Part of the company’s Burnt Geometry Collection, Dedas is a conceptual piece that plays on a frieze by Bauhaus-influenced artist Ferenc Lantos.

Hevesi takes the circle within the square motif and modernizes it, a “feminization” of the historically very masculine aesthetic that does away with the stabbing diagonals and incorporates softer squares with rounded edges: the generalized form of the seat and back that’s also duplicated in the weave of the fabric.

“Patterns of each field appear with different phase states of the circle, which can even be understood as analogies of the lunar phases.”

Lots more to unpack here and within the entire collection. Interested in additional exploration? See Line and Round or Annabella Hevesi on Behance.
