Wonders of Woven Metal
Weaving isn’t foremost of mind when the medium of choice is polished steel.

A spectacular feat of threading metal so it takes on the aesthetic of a braided chair, Bower Studios Woven Collection joins the skill and subtlety of textiles with a brazen sheen that results in the most unexpected of mirrors. Here’s a detail of one shown at NYCxDESIGN.

The leather straps provide textural interest while the entire ensemble captures the reflection of a burgundy-red backdrop.

These are heirloom quality pieces that bring the fun of a fun-house mirror to your living room in a celebration of distorting expectations and playing against type and tradition.

Bower Studios collaborated with ceramicist Emily Mullin for last week’s exhibit. Her work uses an innovative firing technique to create a similar shimmery surface.
