I toured a lot of showrooms while working my way through Fulton Market Design Days in Chicago while 3rings worked to cover NeoCon 2025. The pink placards on the sidewalks were wonderful indicators of where I might pop into when I had a break between showings and meetings.

Around lunchtime I took the elevator up to the second floor to discover the world of Arper. I’m so glad I did.

What was out on the patio especially caught my eye. There it was: Leaf.

The leaf venation stitched onto the cushions was immediately recognizable, and I loved the play my mind went through to imagine a leaf as big as this chaise right here in front of me. What kind of tree might that big leaf have fallen from?

The design is from 2005, but what’s new are the soft removable cushions. These add comfort and can withstand the elements of life outside. Plus, cushions ensure the leaf pattern doesn’t translate onto your skin while reclining.

Leaf is made of powder-coated steel rods. There is a sled base.

These are ideal for both contract and residential environments. As seen here, they fit right in, alongside Arper’s Onemm Table, as a fixture on a rooftop terrace with an ocean view.

The Leaf collection is designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, a trio of designers who are behind some of Arper’s most influential and beloved collections.

Leaf’s delicate silhouette is also available as stackable chairs, various shapes of tables, seats, and bar stools.

Arper opened their showroom in Chicago in the Fulton Market district last year. This is their second year participating in Fulton Market Design Days. Their other US showrooms are in Los Angeles and New York.
