Textile Art for the Seat
Dedar’s Versi Liberi Collection turns upholstery into a focal point. Fabric becomes composition, tailored for a chair back, cushion, or seat.
The series redefines the placed motif. “Parola – Lana” layers wool embroidery over raffia and linen, dense strokes against an open ground. “Riptide – Bianco e Nero” adds bold black-and-white gestures with trimming and embroidery. Each panel measures about 27 by 35 inches. Designers can rotate, offset, or center them to create different effects.
These textiles act like collage. They encourage choice. A motif can command attention or settle quietly into the background. The approach recalls sculptural seating experiments such as My Beautiful Backside by Moroso where surface pattern drives the design.
The appeal for commercial projects is clear. Hotels, lounges, and cultural spaces often need seating with character. Versi Liberi supplies that signature while maintaining durability. Each panel feels crafted, yet deliberate.
The collection shifts textiles from support to statement. These fabrics do not disappear into a room. They stand as gestures in wool, raffia, and thread. In effect, each textile becomes a small-scale artwork, designed to be lived with, specified, and seen.
