Chromatic Calm
Wood Melbourne brings wit and warmth to modern bathroom faucets with Chromablock, a collaboration between founder Oliver MacLatchy and New York–based design editor Georgina McWhirter. The collection transforms Wood Melbourne’s signature handles, circular Kahn and square Corbu, into blocks of richly pigmented resin. Chrome and brass give way to color, playful and human.
Each handle invites mixing and matching. Think of them as color studies, not fixtures. The palette is deliberately offbeat, Dirty Martini, Hot Sauce, Boiled Prawn, somewhere between midcentury tile and Memphis revival. Paired with concrete, Carrara marble, or reclaimed timber, the forms bring a confident spark to hospitality restrooms, boutique hotels, and creative studios.
Chromablock proves that modern bathroom faucets can be both minimal and mischievous. The palette echoes the renewed appetite for color seen in 3rings’ KBIS 2025 trend coverage, showing how even small gestures can shift a room’s mood. It’s a reminder that design doesn’t need to shout to make an impression, sometimes it just needs the right hue.
