When Art Meets the Floor
At ZigZagZurich, art-inspired rugs move art from the wall to the floor. The brand’s new Artist Carpet Collection transforms original artworks into functional design pieces that bring creative energy into everyday spaces.
The process starts with each artist’s vision and ends with a printed textile of remarkable precision. ZigZagZurich uses a Chromojet technique that consumes one-third less ink while producing crisp, saturated color. Each rug is made from 100% recycled polyester and offered in three textures that vary in height and sheen. Together, these details create a surface that feels rich, durable, and refined.
Artists Klaus Kremmerz and Kerstin Brätsch show the collection’s range. Kremmerz, a Paris-based illustrator, turns scenes from daily life into playful compositions like Lobby and Boredom. His rugs feel graphic and cinematic. Brätsch, based in Berlin, takes a different approach. Her piece BAUBAU Fossil Psychic explores color as movement, where pigments seem to swirl and settle across the surface.
Beyond their visual impact, the rugs represent innovation in sustainable production. ZigZagZurich’s print-on-demand system reduces waste, lowers inventory, and shortens lead times. The result is a line of art-inspired rugs that suits commercial interiors as much as gallery spaces. For more on the brand’s creative approach, see Beachfront ZZZs with ZigZagZurich.
