The X-Frame, Off Duty
A director’s chair is meant to sit at attention. Sofia declines.
Ethimo and Patrick Jouin rework the folding outdoor chair through the familiar X-frame, keeping the old folding logic while softening everything around it.
Look from behind. The arms resolve into one clean line, and the rear legs run long to meet the tilt of the back. Nothing here parks at ninety degrees.
Teak, cut from solid stock, sanded soft at every edge. The gloss pulls the grain forward. Slim stainless fittings catch the light, a whisper of something nautical.
It folds flat and moves easily. Stack a few pieces of the folding outdoor chair against the wall of a hotel terrace. Pull them out when the room fills, fold them away when it empties.
Outdoor seating that behaves like it came from indoors.
