Cosme Rests Its Case on Four Columns
HBF’s Cosme collection rethinks hospitality lounge seating, resting its weight on four rounded columns, and designer Mark Grattan makes them the whole argument. The columns turn at each corner, carrying the arm and anchoring the frame. Wood veneer, cut on a deliberate 45-degree grain. Marble, flecked and variable. Choose one, and the leg reads as the first thing in the room.
The rest follows that confidence. Flange welt seaming traces the seat, arms, and back pillow, drawing a taut line against soft upholstery. On the sofas, a single continuous stitch runs the length of the seat, so pattern flows over backs and arms without a break. A zebra bouclé reads graphic. A ribbed champagne velvet reads quiet. The columns hold either one steady.
Cosme began as a residential idea, lower and deeper than most contract work allows. Grattan kept that generosity and built it for public rooms. Lounge seating with the softness of HBF’s commercial upholstery and the nerve to hold a lobby.
A 2026 HiP finalist for hospitality lounge seating. Easy to see why.
