Hall is a compact outdoor wall lamp rated IP65, built to hold up on an exposed façade and deliver reliable outdoor wall lighting, just as readily indoors. Northern reissues the design, first drawn by Birger Dahl in 1955 and installed for decades on Oslo City Hall, Elverum Town Hall, and public buildings across Norway.

The form reads at a glance: a mouth-blown opal glass shade split by a slim metal band, held off the wall on a short cast arm. It comes in black or brushed aluminium. A dimmable LED sits inside, and the bracket mounts vertically or horizontally, so a row of them can march along a corridor or frame an entrance.

For commercial work, that weatherproof rating earns its keep. Specify it for outdoor wall lighting on a hotel’s covered walkway, a multifamily lobby, a student-housing stairwell, then repeat the same fixture indoors without a visual seam.

Some designs chase the season. This one has outlasted seventy of them. Dahl kept the geometry pure and let the shape carry the object, a discipline shared by the handblown glass sconce we covered recently.
