Sciapó Tips Its Hat

Sciapó Tips Its Hat

Turn a top hat upside down and you get something close to Sciapó, a vessel sink designed by Prospero Rasulo for Valdama. The brim flares wide. The crown drops deep. It looks dressed for the opera, or at least a very good hotel.

Most vessel sinks sit politely on a counter and try not to be noticed. This one makes an entrance. Its height gives it posture, so it can stand alone, rest on a lowered plinth, or anchor a powder room that guests mention on the way out.

Satin finishes read quiet and tactile. Gloss catches light along that generous rim, which turns out to be a natural place to rest a hand.

Valdama also positions it for outdoor use. Picture it beside a spa terrace or a rooftop pool, carrying the same composure from inside to out.

It follows the brand’s earlier bold ceramic basins with a shape that is formal without being fussy. A washbasin in evening wear, minus the dress code.
