The XD Chair from The Form Follows pairs a powder-coated aluminum frame with a velvet seat and back. Designer Klemens Schillinger’s piece is framed by the brand as an echo of Josef Hoffmann’s Fledermaus Chair.

Read it like a painting. Each frame is one flat, saturated color. The velvet panels add a second tone inside the lines. Chagall green holds dark green. Light pink holds a dustier pink. Small dark blocks cap every joint, like pins at the corners of a stretched print.

Below the seat, the base is an open cube. No curves, no taper. That discipline is what lets the color land.

A color block chair like this belongs where people linger and look. Run a row of mixed colors along a café wall. Set a single green one beside a restaurant host stand or in a members’ lounge, and let it stand in for the artwork. A separate cane version swaps the plush for texture.
