There’s something of the dignified mien of our Civil War president in Room & Board’s Lincoln Adjustable Desk.

Quite unlike the habitual sit/stand versions with their infrastructure on display (which, admittedly, has its own type of appeal), Lincoln takes a different tack with a conservative, albeit, elegant, look that evokes a classic office style.

Onlookers may find themselves quite surprised at the effortless levitation happening here. A simple tap on a discrete console raises Lincoln to the heights, letting the user find the sweet spot to sit, stand, or inhabit any posture in between.

Apart from the obvious utility, this is also a beautiful furnishing. Created in collaboration with Gensler, Lincoln is solid wood. The seamless gliding drawers feature Baltic birch plywood slides with a Baltic birch bottom and dovetail joinery. Wood choices include Maple, Walnut, Oak with rye stain, Oak with charcoal stain, Cherry, Ash with shell stain, and Oak with salt stain.
