At Sanford Biggers’ Unsui (Mirror), an outdoor sculpture of mirrored clouds rises above the landscape, catching both sky and passerby. Their cartoonish outlines feel playful, but the reflections anchor them in reality, folding mountains, trees, and shifting weather into their surface.

Part of a public art exhibition in Aspen, the installation will be on view in Paepcke Park through September. It thrives in shared spaces, softening the park with humor while also prompting pause. The forms are easy to read, but the mirrored planes complicate the story: clouds that seem to belong, and yet clearly don’t. That tension is the hook.

For commercial projects, reflective sculpture offers an unexpected way to animate outdoor gathering places. Think multifamily courtyards or corporate greens where art must serve as both landmark and conversation starter. In this sense, Biggers’ work isn’t just sculpture, it’s an environment.

The installation recalls other experiments in reflective design, like Glow Gather Repeat, which transforms light and surface to reframe context. Both show how spectacle can still feel grounded when it engages its surroundings.
