Eco Furniture Design: A Match Point for Material Innovation
The Soundbounce collection by Mathilde Wittock for mwo design shows what eco furniture design looks like when sport meets sustainability. Each piece transforms discarded tennis balls into sculptural, sound-absorbing forms that feel both playful and precise. The Bounce Lounge Chair and Bench are part of a larger series that also includes tables, stools, walls, and dividers.
Each ball is cut, colored, and arranged by hand to form tactile gradients that shift in tone and texture. The surfaces read like pixelated mosaics while absorbing sound, softening the acoustics of shared spaces. Wooden bases come from FSC-certified sources and are finished with eco-labelled stains, aligning every detail with circular principles.
Wittock’s approach turns waste into a flexible design system for offices, hospitality lounges, and branded interiors. It’s a collection that appeals as much to the eye as to the ear. For another inventive take on tennis-inspired reuse, see Hugh Hayden’s “Funature” collection.
