Contemporary Upholstery, Reassembled in Pixels
Contemporary upholstery gets a surreal twist from New York–based designer Ceren Arslan, whose brand EXIT Ceren turns softened geometry into sculptural seating. The Pixie Chair and Perry Pouf appear like physical pixels scattered into place. The grid stays strict. The atmosphere stays warm. It is playful, but never whimsical for whimsy’s sake.
These pieces land beautifully in commercial settings that want character without clutter. They read graphic from afar, then soften up close, making them ideal for hotel lounges, cultural spaces, and amenity floors that thrive on visual texture. Here, contemporary upholstery becomes punctuation: rhythmic, approachable, and unmistakably intentional.
Their digital echoes recall earlier experiments in crafted pixelation, including the Pixel Cabinet by Boca do Lobo. EXIT Ceren translates that visual logic into comfort and volume, inviting people to perch, gather, and inhabit the pattern.
The result feels light and slightly otherworldly. A small world assembling itself one cube at a time.
