BDNY 2025: Biodegradable Vinyl Upholstery Takes Center Stage

Debuting this weekend at Boutique Design New York, Hyphyn™ redefines biodegradable vinyl upholstery. Developed by Nassimi, a leader in contract textile innovation, the material pairs performance with environmental intelligence.

Six years in the making, Hyphyn™ is designed to last through heavy use and then break down responsibly. Its patented enzyme system, built into both PVC and polyester backing, enables more than 90 percent biodegradation within two years under landfill conditions, leaving no harmful residues or microplastics. In everyday use, it performs like high-end vinyl, stain resistant, bleach cleanable, and durable for 100,000 double rubs.

Its palette deepens the story. Earthy greens, copper tones, and soft neutrals promote calm and connection, evoking the sense of social wellness that defines today’s hospitality design.

For specifiers, Hyphyn™ represents a shift toward smarter materials. It proves that sustainability can be engineered from within, not layered on top. Thoughtful design can serve people and the planet—living well, then leaving lightly.

See Hyphyn™ at BDNY, November 9–10, or through distributors across North America.
