Salone 2026 Preview: Draga & Aurel’s Murano Moment at Salone Raritas
Affinity in Light marks Draga & Aurel’s debut at Salone Raritas, arriving in collaboration with Murano’s Salviati and backed by 166 years of glassmaking expertise in sculptural glass lighting.
Salone Raritas debuts at Salone del Mobile.Milano as a tightly curated platform for limited-edition and collectible design, bringing rare, high-craft pieces into direct dialogue with the commercial design world.
The Crisalide lamp appears to float. Bold panes of fused glass hover without visible support, each one saturated in jade, cerulean, or violet. A filament threads through them, drawing a bright line that defies gravity. The colors refuse to stay put, shifting from translucent to electric depending on the light—an expressive study in sculptural glass lighting.
Soffio takes the opposite tack. Blown spheres cluster on slim metal bases, their surfaces deliberately imperfect with bubbles and cracks that catch and scatter illumination. The light looks internal, as if the glass swallowed a small sun.
Both sculptural lighting pieces shift with the room. Morning turns them translucent, evening turns them jeweled. For a boutique hotel lobby or a gallery-adjacent lounge, they behave like glass seating in full color that refuses to sit still.
Affinity, indeed. Glass as collaborator, not canvas.
