Where Play Meets Form: Secolo x TABLEAU
Secolo, in collaboration with TABLEAU, previews a new collection ahead of Milano Design Week 2026 that trades rigidity for something more instinctive. The Trace sofa, Plumea armchair, and a reimagined Pingu Side Table arrive as part of a broader installation, where form, surface, and narrative begin to align.
Trace leads with movement. Its continuous curves create a looping profile that feels equally resolved from every angle. It is generous, but not heavy. The gesture invites circulation, conversation, and a more fluid approach to shared seating.
Plumea shifts the tone inward. Its pillow-like upholstery rests on a crisp lacquered base, balancing softness with structure. The contrast feels intentional. Comfort is framed, not overplayed.
The Pingu Side Table introduces a graphic layer. Its familiar inverted dome form remains intact, but the surface loosens through TABLEAU’s blind-drawn florals. The markings feel instinctive. Slightly imperfect. That tension between control and spontaneity echoes ideas explored in this recent look at , where form carries expression as much as function.
Materially, the collection stays grounded. Upholstery, lacquer, and simple volumes keep the pieces spec-friendly. But the emotional register shifts. This is playful furniture design that feels considered, not casual. It supports how people gather, pause, and reconnect in shared space. It’s a direction that resonates with recent explorations in Loop, or How Seating Starts to Circulate, where form begins to carry more of the narrative.
