Modular Shelving as Ceramic Canvas
Stacked like gallery display, REM atelier’s Shifting Forms transforms modular shelving into sculptural art. Over 600 handmade ceramic tiles shimmer in iridescent glazes, turning each shelf into a shifting surface of light.
It functions effortlessly in open-plan lobbies or boutique hotel foyers. The eight interlocking modules combine—or stand alone—with architectural precision and playful asymmetry. Each glazed face feels both tactile and elemental, and the seams disappear into continuous runs of form.
There’s a graceful tension between the handcrafted texture and the rational structure. This shelving doesn’t just hold objects—it invites them to engage. A single vase becomes part of a larger mosaic. A stack of magazines echoes the grid beneath.
In its restrained geometry and material poetry, Shifting Forms recalls other modular showpieces that balance utility with presence—like Sitland’s Lido pouf system, where configuration becomes a design language of its own.
